Spanish to English Translation:
Book on Obstetrics and Gynecology by William Smellie
William Smellie published this book in London in 1754. He was a famous doctor devoted to obstetrics and gynecology. He published this book with illustrations by Charles Grignon for greater understanding of the use of medical devices needed at birth (in a photo it looks like they are taking a baby with forceps).
The book measures 2.1 cm high x are 1.8 cm wide with a spine of 0.7 cm to 9 cm size would be for a reference book and not much less when the book deals with medical issues. It has 130 pages printed on both sides on paper 50 grams rounded drawers.
This piece has marbled paper covers as the original. I added small patches of wax, imitating the books of the time, which often read in the light of a candle for not having electricity, the covers were stained with melted wax falling on them.
I am sending you hugs and my greatest desire that you spend a good summer.

Meet CDHM Artisan Monica Graham, IGMA Artisan, of M-M-Minis
"My name is Monica, but many people in the
cyberworld know me by my nickname, Yahzmin.
I've been making full-size baskets for about
15-years now, and miniatures of all kinds for about 10-years.
Finally, last year, the 2 great passions of my life met, merged -- and now I make miniature baskets of all shapes, sizes, materials and kinds.
I can do custom work in almost any color scheme with my fiber baskets, and can dye my black ash many colors as well. Even when left natural, my black ash baskets can be accented with cording in a shade to match your decor, so feel free to email me with special requests.
To see my current posted stock of miniatures, including many types of baskets, floral arrangements, etc.
Monica was awarded Artisan by IGMA, International Guild of Miniature Artisans in 2011 in the category of Accessories/Baskets.
